Abstract

The study examines two basic issues: present (1980) U.S. energy situation and energy needs through the year 2000, with particular emphasis on recreational requirements. Direct recreational fuel use was determined to represent about 4.4 percent of total car fuel use in the U.S. at present (1980). Maximum recreational fuel requirement projections for 1985 and 2000 are somewhat above present levels, but minimum and median requirements are below them.
