Management - Safety

Lafond, D. (1984). The young child and the motorized All Terrain Vehicle. Baltimore, Maryland: Maryland State Department of Education.

Abstract

The thesis put forth in this paper is that after age eight, a child may have the capability of operating OHVs. The increased accident rate probably has less to do with the stability or safety of the vehicle than with the type of training children and adults receive. The attitude and general frame of mind that these vehicles are for fun and for the child-feelings in you probably has more to do with setting the stage for high accident potential.
