Management - Environmental Ethics and OHV use

McAvoy, L. (1990). An environmental ethic for parks and recreation. Parks and Recreation, Sep: 68-72.

Abstract

Article provides an expose on how governmental/private parks personnel/planners can better plan their actions to avoid conflict. The use of a system, verses linear, single-line, approach to management decisions is best. Managers need to develop an environmental ethic based on the values of providing only what is good for people and the environment. The bottom line is that the park/recreation professional's philosophy of service must be founded on ecological principles, not merchant values.
