Abstract

A review of tort claims against the Forest Service filed between 1977 and 1990. The objective was to determine the magnitude of the tort problem, whether it is growing, what activities the claims arise from, and to examine the agency's accident reporting methods. Calculates the percentages of claims the agency lost vs. the total claims filed, and the distribution of claims nationwide.
