Abstract

A brief handbook outlining the growth of OHV sales and use in NC vs. the lack of managed riding areas. Provides a basic outline of the benefits of managed public OHV areas. Lists indicators for determining the need for a legal riding area, which kind it should be, and how it could be funded, developed, and maintained. Standard OHV management principles are emphasized as the key to eliminating problems. A list of management resources is provided.
