Environmental Impact - Wildlife/Vegetation Effects

Bury, R. B. (1980). What we know and do not know about off-road vehicle impacts on wildlife. In R.N.L. Andrews & P.P. Nowak (eds.) Off-road vehicle use: A management challenge conference. Washington. D.C.

Abstract

Research concerning off-road vehicles is reviewed to illustrate the level of impact on wildlife in different habitats and to provide guidance for more effective protection of wildlife in areas used for OHV activities. Effects on wildlife include direct mortality, damage to vegetation, disruption to soil, and noise harassment. Research and management recommendations are suggested.
