Environmental Impact - Soil/water effects

Carlson, J. & Elliott, G. (1990). Water quality monitoring report. Rock Creek Watershed, Georgetown Ranger District: 1-5.

Abstract

Water sampling at a stream crossing used during two separate events on different dates, an equestrian trail ride and a motorcycle enduro. Results indicated that the motorcycles did not introduce large amounts of suspended sediments into the stream, while there was a substantial disturbance to the creek by the horses. No immediate damage from either event was detected, however, the long term effects were not speculated upon.
