Environmental Impact - Inventorying & monitoring methods Cole, D. N. (1994). The wilderness threats matrix: A framework for assessing impacts. U.S. Department of Agriculture, Forest Service Intermountain Research Station, Ogden, Utah: 1-14. Abstract This report proposes a comprehensive framework for assessing threats
to wilderness. The most significant threats to wilderness are recreational
use and its management, livestock grazing and management, mining, fire,
introduction of exotic species, pollution, and practices on adjacent lands.
The threats matrix can help planners and managers describe current management
situations, develop assumptions about the future, and assess impacts of
alternative management actions. |
