Abstract

Impacts of off-road vehicle use in California deserts are described, including threats to wildlife. Specific impacts discussed include habitat alteration through destruction of vegetation, soil compaction, noise, pollution, and maiming and killing of ground-dwelling animals. Mitigation methods are discussed.
