Environmental Impact - Environmental assessments (EIS etc.)

Davis, A. M. Effects of Off-Road vehicles on dune-dominated Environments. Mojave Desert. CSUN Geography Department, CSUN: 1-7.

Abstract

This thesis will examine the impacts of off-road vehicles on dune-dominated environments in the Eastern Mojave Desert, Southern California. Two adjacent areas of the eastern Mojave Desert, the Devil's Playground Off-Road Area (approximately 15 km2) and a portion of the Mojave Nature Preserve (6,475 km2) were chosen as study sites. These sites differ in that the former remains designated for use by off-road vehicles (ORVs); the latter has been designated a nature preserve since 1994.
